Susie (Hedstrom) Enarson

At VHS, Susie was active in cheerleading, pep band, marching band, concert band, numerous vocal music groups, pep club, Y-Teens, drama, Volcano staff, “Annual” staff, and was a homecoming attendant.

Attended Northwest Missouri State College. Worked at a variety of jobs for several employers in Villisca. Continues to work as secretary of the Villisca United Methodist Church, where she also serves as lay leader and lay speaker.

Susie has always been actively involved in the Villisca community, serving on numerous boards and committees. Positions include: director, secretary, vice president and president of Villisca Alumni & Friends Association; trustee and president of the Villisca Public Library; member and president of Villisca School Board; mayor of Villisca for 12 years. Board member of Iowa Municipalities Workers Compensation Association, and elected vice-chairman. Appointed by Governor Branstad to serve on Iowa Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations, and elected chairman.

While serving in many capacities in the community, Susie has tirelessly volunteered her time and talents. She has shown particular interest in numerous activities involving local youths—mentoring at the elementary school, mentoring confirmation students at church, helping with Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, Band Mothers, Sunday School and Youth Leader at church. With her husband, Tom, she enjoys supporting the Villisca students by going to many school events and activities.

Susie Enarson, a 2013 member of the Villisca Bluejay Hall of Fame, lives in Villisca.
